Jazz Performance

Jazz at Victoria offers a comprehensive jazz education programme and provides professional performance opportunities designed to equip you for a professional music career. Performance instruments and other jazz areas include:

  • bass
  • brass
  • composition
  • drums and percussion
  • guitar
  • piano
  • voice
  • woodwind.

Programme highlights

Study woodwind, voice, brass, piano, guitar, drums and bass with access to various ensemble performance opportunities such as big bands, Latin ensemble, fusion ensemble and combos.

Workshops, masterclasses and performance opportunities

Students in our Jazz Programme have been able to attend masterclasses by a number of renowned international artists. These include guest artists to the New Zealand International Arts Festival, Wellington Jazz Festival and Queen's Birthday Jazz and Blues Festival. Jazz students are also able to join in with masterclasses associated with the classical performance programme. Take a look at our recent visitors.
